Welcome! I’m a strategist, executive coach, and unwavering advocate for ambitious women who are ready to step into leadership that feels as good as it looks.

I wasn’t climbing the ladder.
I was clinging to it – exhausted and terrified to fall.

I built success by every external measure. But inside, something felt off.

I knew how to look like a winner, but I didn’t know how to define winning for myself. I was a text-book perfectionist — constantly worried about being “enough”, carrying the weight of expectations, responsibilities, and a version of success that never quite felt like my own.

My breaking point wasn’t dramatic.
It was quiet.

It was a slow realization that I was living a life that looked right but didn’t feel right. I was exhausted from trying to be everything for everyone else, yet unsure of how to reclaim my time, my energy, and my deeper vision for myself.

Through my own journey of transformation—of learning to lead from a place of alignment rather than obligation—I discovered the power of stepping into leadership on my terms. And I saw how many other brilliant, ambitious women were struggling with the same thing.

I do this work because I know what it feels like to be successful yet stuck. To be highly capable yet unfulfilled. To carry the world on your shoulders yet feel disconnected from your own needs and desires.

I also know what’s on the other side of that struggle.

The clarity. The ease. The power that comes from leading and living in full alignment with who you are meant to be.

The Official Bio

Monique Shields, Founder of Seven Pines Leadership, is committed to the professional empowerment of women leaders of color.

As a coach, Monique leverages her own executive experience and nearly a decade combined of training in Co-Active Coaching, motivational interviewing, peer counseling, interpersonal dynamics, team building and corporate communications to help her clients find higher forms of leadership and intention in their lives.

Monique was on staff at the Stanford Graduate School of Business as a Facilitator for their Women in Management program as well as at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business a Leadership and Career Coach for current MBAs and alumni.

Prior to launching Seven Pines, Monique was the Director of Coaching and then the Director of Partnerships at Joyable, a mental health technology start-up in San Francisco – employee #7. In her management roles, she built, led and scaled a client-facing team for a business that served nearly a half million users. As a member of the leadership team, she worked directly with the COO and CEO and led implementations and managed relationships for the company’s largest, most strategic global accounts. Personally, Monique is a wife, a mom and a fierce friend to amazing women.

She understands what it means hold competing priorities in life and to carve space to also lead for herself – establishing boundaries, building vision and using her voice, time & energy effectively – and she brings this perspective to the work she does with her clients.
